WoM Slam 3: Buzz for Associations…
July 9, 2009
I was a bit nervous when the “client” for the night stood up in front of the WOM Slammer community.
When Elizabeth Engel, the Director of Marketing at the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) stood up to explain her business challenge, I thought, ‘man, this is way too tough, the WOM Slam franchise is dead!”
I should know better than to count out this community.
Charged with the task of how to WOM-ify a product (that doesn’t even exist yet), the teams came ready to play…and I’ll tell you what, more than any ideas that came out of it for Elizabeth (and she said she walked away with a few really good ones that she can implement quickly and cost-effectively), I was so impressed by the fact that everyone was focused on solving the problem.
And that, my friends, is the point of the WOM Slam.
It’s where you put your brain to work to figure out how to solve real business problems with real parameters/constraints, and think about how to leverage the power of social media and word-of-mouth to advance your cause.
It’s a practice makes perfect type of experience for the participants.
