WOM Slam 2—Time To Mash
April 1, 2009
On the heels of WOM Slam 1, we decided to raise the bar a bit for coming up with WOM-worthy ideas for our next 'client."![]()
Tonight, the good folks at JackBe, brought their challenge to table.
How do you make the concept of a "mash up" something that the lay person will understand?
With plenty of drinks (featuring Mie N Yu's "Cherry Blossom" special) and some authentic food of the Silk Road, close to 40 people put their heads together for 2 hours trying to figure out how to help JackBe better communicate their vision.
The winning team each received a copy of Word of Mouth Marketing: How Smart Companies Get People Talking” by Andy Sernovitz (thank you Andy for the donation!) as well as a $50/person gift certificate to Mie N Yu.
The second place team also each got a copy of Word of Mouth Marketing.![]()
And there were plenty of other door prizes, including Purell (thanks to Johnson and Johnson who remind you to practice 'safe networking'), t-shirts, and other assorted tchotchkes.
The criteria for victory?
- low-cost
- easy to implement
- give someone a reason to talk
And thanks to a number of folks who livetweeted the event. Just added to the excitement.
And a bonus…not only did the WOM Slam generate excitement inside, but outside as well.
Here’s one tweet from someone following a WOM Slam attendee…obviously of value to JackBe.![]()
We will be doing more WOM Slams in DC and other cities as well, so check out (and join) our WOM Slammers Facebook Group, follow WOM Slam on Twitter, and/or subscribe to my EventBrite RSS feed, or drop me a line by commenting here.
