12th Todd Newfield Award Winner

May 15, 2011

imageThe Never Stop Marketing Todd Newfield Award is given quarterly (roughly) to the blog reader who, through a comment (or multiple comments), best exemplifies Golden Rule #2  of my  first boss.

His sage advice was:

"There are two keys to success in business.
First, only work with people you like.
Second, don't ever believe your own bullshit."

This quarter, our winner is Mark Lees (Twitter) for his challenging my assumptions on how a marketer should act/think in the post “Porn: Why Wi-Fi Isn’t Free at High-End Hotels.”

Go ahead, read his comment.

It’s solid, well thought-out, shows not only his understanding of marketing concepts, but also his familiarity with my blog (always endearing Smile), and his depth (aka citing Drucker—another way to score points).

While I didn’t agree with everything he said, that doesn’t matter. What matters is that he really “brought” it and in so doing, represents the value of this blog, this community, and the network by helping me (and hopefully others) think more deeply about our craft.

Congratulations, Mark!

He joins our illustrious list of previous winners
