You know by now that it’s not about social media per se.
It’s about the changes to marketing (and your entire business) that the advent of social media has created.
You’ve seen the interview with Adriana, read the blog series on Marketing Planning in a Billion Channel Universe, and you are fired up.
But, you don’t know where to start?
I was inspired the other day when chatting with Stephen Parker, COO of Healthy Companies International (disclosure: client) when he summarized his approach to change with the mantra of:
Paint Your Own Room.
Creativity and change makes many people uncomfortable.
If you come in with grandiose ideas of how to revolutionize their world for the better, they are likely to ignore you or shut you down.
If, however, you start with your own little corner of the enterprise, as Greg Lowe at Alcatel-Lucent (client) has done (see his interview here), you can create the success stories (the heart of marketing).
These stories lead others to come, admire what you have done and say, “wow, I’d like this color/decoration/style as well.”
So, what color will you use?
