Our job as marketers (and remember, we’re all marketers), is to create stories that people can tell themselves and tell their friends.
If you can help in the creation of stories, you will give your customers the reasons they need to call you (Sales-you call them; Marketing-they call you.)
What I love about this video from Johnny Walker is how they tell you a GREAT story and not once do they say “buy our whiskey.”
I don’t know about you, but the next time I have Johnny Walker as an option, I am much more likely to say “hey, I know that story, I want to be a part of that story.” And when you buy the product, you literally “buy into the story.”
We all want to feel a part of something…and a connection to a great narrative gives us the rationale we need to make the purchase.
You don’t need to have someone strolling through the Scottish Highlands.
You just need the story about your passion for the business.
