Harvard Business School

So, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, one of Harvard Business School’s foremost professors wrote a great blog post about a month ago called “In a Recession, Put Everyone in Marketing.”

Maybe I am digging by saying that this is another side of the “Never Stop Marketing” coin..plus, I would argue that everyone is IN marketing anyway (a la Drucker), but we are splitting hairs.

She offers up five suggestions for what to do (and I'll translate them from Harvard B-school speak to CDM language :-)

  1. Increase customer contact and communication (cultivate your fans)
  2. Start looking for new markets now (never stop marketing)
  3. Invest in employee morale (ok,I don’t really talk about this that much)
  4. Emphasize and reward small wins (more cultivation)
  5. Stick with your values (center on the stuff about which you are passionate)

Ok, fine, so it’s not a perfect fit, but it is a good read!
