Today’s learning opportunity for all of us comes via David Newman.
David puts into words something that sits at the core of Community Driven Marketing’s third phase: Activation.
Namely, make it REALLY easy for your network to spread the word on your behalf.
His tactical example?
In short, if someone in your network wants to refer you to someone in their network, do you have a simple story/note/elevator pitch that is YOU-focused, relevant, and engaging for that person to copy/paste/send?
You should read through David’s post to get a better sense of it yourself.
Personally, the template isn’t quite my style, but I think David would care more about the objective (have a good…or dare I say “Remarkable” referral blurb) than the process (use this template.)
So, in the spirit of perpetual beta, I will put my first crack at a referral blurb out there.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it. Either
- copy/paste/send it to 2 people you think would appreciate it
- tell me why it’s terrible and what I can do to improve it.
- then, post yours as a comment (or send to me by email, if you prefer jer979 AT neverstopmarketing.com)
DRAFT REFERRAL BLURB
Dear Name,
I want to introduce you to my friend and colleague Jeremy Epstein and suggest you connect for a brief, 20 minute chat.
Jeremy works with CEO’s, VP’s, and first-rate marketers who want to figure out ways to more cost-effectively acquire and retain customers (using social media or otherwise). His company is called Never Stop Marketing and his clients include Microsoft, JNJ, and NYT best-selling author, Dan Pink.
He calls his process “Community Driven Marketing,” and the whitepaper on it has received a lot of attention, but more importantly, it has delivered real ROI for his clients.
You’ll enjoy his passion and energy and, no matter what, you’ll walk away with some new ideas for your business.
I’m also a “Raving Fan” of his blog, which you should definitely check out to get a feel for his style and ideas.
Let me know if you want me to make the official introduction.
Best,
Your Name
So, how did I do?
