One of these days, I am going to have a marketing gurus dinner and invite some of my favorites over. Since they live all over the place, it’ll probably be virtual, but one of the invitees will be John Moore of Brand Autopsy.
He had a post a few weeks back called “Bake It or Make It. (Just Don’t Fake It)” which I think gave a really good, simple way to look at WOM.
One way or another, you need to be “Remarkable.” We’ve talked about that a lot.
John helps you think about making Remarkable a part of your core product or service, but if it’s not there and you can’t do it right now, you can layer it on.
Personally, I think baking is better (here’s my whitepaper on creating Raving Fans that touches on that), but realistically, you can’t always re-bake.
Sometimes, you have a cake and you just need to “pretty it up” with icing, right?
